Cars and trucks are not the only vehicles that can have a lien against them due to the non-payment of a repair order or repair bill. A boat lien can be created as well covering power boats, sail boats and even personal water craft (PWC) as they are all registered as a “vessel”.
If your shop has repaired, furnished supplies or materials, towed or stored a vessel and has not been paid for the services rendered, your shop can have a lien (mechanic lien) against the vessel. The lien arises at the time the registered owner is presented with a written statement of charges for completed work or services. Now, differing states have differing time periods to allow for satisfaction of the lien. Here in Florida where The Title Lady is headquartered, that time period is three days. Do you have a customer who seems to have set sail, leaving you holding not only the anchor, but the entire vessel? If it has been at your shop for more than three days, you are entitled to full payment of the bill, or the title to the vessel.
The Title Lady has been in the business of recovering titles for these unpaid repair orders and repair bills. While each state has differing laws on how to recover the title, The Title Lady knows and understands these differing laws and will get you the title for the vehicle in a timely manner. If you live in Florida, you can fill out the form below and we’ll get started. Other states, please provide as much information as possible, including appropriate contact information, and we’ll follow up if we need additional information to comply with your specific state’s requirements.
